General description A ball valve is a valve with a spherical disc that controls the flow through it. The sphere has a hole, or port, through the middle, allowing flow when aligned with both ends of the valve. When closed, the hole is perpendicular to the ends, blocking the flow. The handle or lever aligns with the port position, indicating the valve's status. Ball valves are durable and provide excellent shutoff even after years of disuse, making them a preferred choice for shutoff applications.
