In this book, Kevan A. Feshami explores how white nationalists have historically utilized media to network and foster an identity based on a perceived organic race which they believe is existentially threatened by a host of external forces.The book explores a variety of white nationalist media artifacts to demonstrate how this process has been undertaken and upheld from the end of the Second World War to the present day.This book illustrates how white nationalism emerged as a global movement in the years after the Second World War, with its international scope being made possible by a network of individuals and groups who largely relied on media to communicate with each other.Through this network, Feshami posits, members of the movement were able to share not only the ideas, but also the emotions which helped them construct and understand their identities as white nationalists.As the author explores that network and its history, he employs a series of case studies examining the ways in which white nationalists utilized a variety of media artifacts, including personal letters, fanzines, and digital platforms, to connect and image themselves as part of a national community fighting for its survival.As white nationalists continue their attempt to shift cultural attitudes and draw a larger white audience toward their vision of a globally united white nation, this book positions these networks as mediated spaces that form a social architecture in which participants are encouraged to form new and warped understandings of the self, one's relationship to others, and one's place in the larger world.
