Carpets And Flooring
Light colours will make a room look bigger, whereas a darker carpet will makes a room cosier. A patterned carpet can be a good idea if you have children or if you place in a high traffic area, it will not show stains as easily.
Carpets are available in 100-per-cent wool, wool-nylon mixes and synthetic fibres. Solution-dyed nylon is a good option if your choice is synthetic fibres, it's generally does not fade and is soft to touch.
Don’t base your decision solely on appearance. Choosing a carpet without careful consideration, could mean that the carpet won’t look the same in a few years’ time, due to poor performance or staining.
Hard Flooring
When it comes to hard flooring, there is so much choice and it really does depend on the type of look you are going for, here are a few options to help with your decision.
Wood Floors
Hardwood floors are popular and visually appealing, they are available in a choice of colours and are extremely hard wearing. They are an expensive option.
Laminate Floors
With a cheaper price tag, Laminate floors are easy to install, durable and come in a variety of colours. They are not ideal for kitchens and bathrooms as they can be prone to water damage.
Vinyl and linoleum
A more affordable option, linoleum and vinyl is versatile, easy to keep clean in high traffic areas and quick to install. It is not as hard waring as hardwood and laminate and not as aesthetically pleasing.
Porcelain or ceramic tiles
Tiles come in a multitude of colours and designs, they are durable, non-porous so great for kitchens and bathrooms and heavy-duty hallways. They can be expensive and chip or scratch.
