Our Guide To Choosing Bedroom Furniture
One of the most difficult rooms in the house to design is the bedroom, especially if it’s small. Choosing the right size furniture is important, you need to make sure you measure the space, using fewer pieces will make the room look and feel a lot more spacious. If your room is extra tiny, use taller dressers and shelves to get more storage while taking up less room.
What style are you looking for
Determine the style you want for your new bedroom furniture. Do you prefer modern furniture or is traditional more your style? If you already have existing pieces you are looking to keep, make sure any new furniture will blend in with existing décor.
Buying a new bed
We spend approximately one third or our life in bed so in addition to the style of your bed, you will also need to consider the type of mattress. A general rule of thumb is to replace your mattress every 7-10 years. However, if you’re not sleeping well or waking up in the morning with aches and pains, then maybe it's time for a change.
Placing Other Furniture
Once you’ve found the best place for your bed, arrange everything else starting with the biggest bedroom furniture item followed by smaller ones. Usually, the wardrobes or dressing table comes next, followed by bedside tables, a desk, shelves, chairs and soft furnishings. Bedside tables on either side of the bed are handy for placing a lamp and other items you may need close to hand.
